#Renewables4Ukraine: Kindergarten in Irpin benefits from Solar Energy

Since February 2022, the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) has been providing assistance to Ukraine by donating renewable energy equipment that can supply electricity independently from the national grid including small and off-grid solar systems, batteries, power banks, etc. In March 2023, a special online platform #Renewables4Ukraine was created with the help of the UWEA to donate funds and RES equipment for delivery to Ukraine’s regions particularly affected by russian aggression. In December 2022, the Finnish NGO EKOenergy ekolabel joined the #Renewables4Ukraine campaign. Their generous donations helped equip medical and educational institutions in Irpin with several mobile solarsystems.

One more project has been recently implemented. On 12 February 2024, an 11kW rooftop solar system including inverters and a 9,6kWh storage battery was successfully installed in a kindergarten “Dzhereltse”. The project is the result of the Memorandum on Cooperation and Partnership concluded between the WWEA, the Foundation of Irpin Restoration, and the Irpin City Council. The solar system was installed by the “Green System” company with the financial support of the WWEA and coordination by the UWEA.

Already on 26 December 2022, two mobile solar systems produced by the company KNESS from Vinnytsya city, each of 3 kW capacity, were donated to Irpin City Primary Health Care Center. On 8 March 2023, autonomous mobile solar power systems were also delivered to the Kozyntsi Family-type Outpatient Clinic in Kozyntsi village, and the Irpin Lyceum of Innovative Technologies “ILIT”.

The EKOenergy-WWEA-UWEA joint project has both an energy problem-solving and educational focus, as it demonstrates the advantages of Ukraine’s renewable energy sources and teaches young people how to utilize them.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed and contributes to helping Ukrainian communities! Donations can be made via https://www.renewables4ukraine.org/
