Over the past year, governments, cities, businesses and civil society have moved beyond asking whether the world should transition away from fossil fuels. Following the Santa Marta Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels, held in April, the global focus is now on how to accelerate implementation – making renewable energy the foundation of secure, affordable and resilient economies. The global energy transformation is entering a defining decade.
Around the world, communities are already experiencing the impacts of rising fuel prices, increasing electricity costs, worsening heat stress, and air pollution, and growing concerns over energy security and resilience.
Renewable energy is not just a climate solution, the transformation to 100% renewable energy is about far more than reducing emissions.
This transformation is increasingly recognised as an economic, social and development imperative that can deliver affordable energy, healthier communities, greater energy independence, local employment, and resilient economies.
This webinar brings together leading international experts from the Global 100% Renewable Energy Platform and partner organisations to explore how governments, cities, businesses and communities can accelerate the transformation towards a people-centred energy future. This webinar has been organized as a follow-up to World REnewDay 2026, celebrated on June 26.
The webinar convenes experts from the Global 100% Renewable Energy Platform and partners to address pressing questions:
* Why has the global energy transformation reached a critical implementation phase?.
* What do recent international climate and energy processes mean for renewable energy deployment?.
* How does 100% renewable energy strengthens energy security, affordability and resilience?.
* What is the role of cities and local governments in delivering the transition?
* How can communities can become active participants – not just beneficiaries – of the renewable energy transformation?.
* What priorities should shape the road to COP31 and beyond?.
