On this website, we would like to offer you information on all different technological aspects of wind energy utilisation. Our aim is the worldwide spread of know-how on wind energy - one basic aim of WWEA.
The website addresses all who are interested in wind energy. It focuses especially on students and learners, staff members of administrations, companies, associations, etc, who want to inform themselves and further their education of wind energy.
The website is subdivided in five chapters:
In addition to more general aspects such as wind turbine technology and operation, special applications as described in Chapter 5, are of special importance for us. Today they might only have their niches, but in the future they will be applied on a larger scale, mainly in so-called developing countries.
You will find on the website texts comprising basic information as well as many photographs, explanatory charts, videos, and internet links. We want to make best use of the opportunities offered by the internet and to present you a multimedia-based design. You will find the website - with few exceptions - continuously bilingual so that you can always easily switch between the English and the German version.
We have intentionally tried to include contents with a high theoretical quality as well as contents with a strong practical orientation. Therefore, we have referred to authors from science as well as from the broad range of the wind sector: manufacturers and operators of wind turbines, component manufacturers and service providers as well as associations and public bodies.
We would like to cordially thank all of those who have contributed to the project: to all authors for their contributions, to the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety for the financial support, and to the colleagues of the Argentine Wind Energy Association AAEE who have been in charge of the full layout, design, programming of the website.
We hope that this website may be of use to you and we would appreciate your feedback and comments - the website will not be a static project, but will further develop, much like the continual dynamic development of wind energy utilisation worldwide.
