Bonn/Tokyo, 5 September 2016 – The forthcoming 15th World Wind Energy Conference & Exhibition Concentrating efforts for wind power growth in Japan and worldwide will become the most important international wind energy event of the year. More than 500 experts from 40 countries are expected to attend WWEC2016, amongst them top wind and renewable energy experts from all over the world – from science, industry, governments and international organizations such as IRENA, REN21 or UNESCO.

The WWEC2016 will tackle the main theme Concentrating efforts for wind power growth in Japan and worldwide. WWEC2016 will focus on wind power technology and approaches of how to further increase the global wind power capacity of 435 GW in the world based on engineering as well as social science. Various studies have shown that Japan is blessed with an abundance of wind such as onshore and offshore wind to rebuild and strengthen the country from the damage of the great earthquake in 2011. The WWEC2016 will focus on onshore wind, and also latest offshore wind technology developments will play an important role during the event.

The programme of the WWEC2016, as prepared by the WWEC2016 International Programme Committee, has been published today: 150 speakers will present all important aspects of wind power utilization in 35 sessions. The full conference programme is available on the conference website: www.wwec2016toyko.com

Prof. Dr. Chuichi Arakawa, WWEC2016 Conference Co-chair: „We look forward to welcoming the worldwide wind community to one of the largest wind expert gatherings Japan has ever seen. I am confident that the WWEC2016 will contribute to wind power growth in Japan, and we hope that we can also share our knowledge and help other countries, in East Asia and beyond, to implement wind power on a large scale.”

Companies and other organizations interested in presenting their products and services can still take part in the WWEC2016 exhibition
