Global and National Efforts for the Decarbonisation of the Energy Sector in View of the COP21 Climate Agreement
On December 1, 2016 the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Bonn Office, in cooperation with the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the World Wind Energy Association will launch its first Global Renewable Energy Forum. Against the background that the energy sector accounts for more than two thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions, this special event analyses which measures are needed in order to enable a rapid transition towards renewable energies within the global energy industry.
In the scope of the three topical modules of “Renewable Energy Policy”, “Renewable Energy Finance” and “Technology and Innovation” a multitude of high-level experts from international organisations, development institutions, the government and financial sector will discuss their visions of how a long-term decarbonisation of the global energy sector can be achieved, in line with the COP21 climate targets.
Some of the top-class speakers during this unique event are IRENA Deputy Director General Mr. Sakari Oksanen and UNFCCC Deputy Executive Secretary Mr. Richard Kinley.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Bonn Office, is looking forward to welcome an international audience in the scope of this highly interesting event.
